Total Time: 30 minutes mins
- 1 tbsp butter or olive oil
- 1 onion diced
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 tbsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 2 tsp chipotle powder
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 15 oz can great northern beans or pinto beans
- 15 oz can kidney beans
- 15 oz can black beans
- 28 oz diced tomatoes
- 2.5 cups low sodium beef broth or beef bone broth
Heat butter or olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
Add diced onion to the pot, and sauté until tender.
Add ground beef to pot and brown, breaking up any large chunks.
Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
Turn the heat down to low, and add seasonings.
Add the tomato paste, beans, tomatoes, and beef broth. Stir to combine all ingredients.
Simmer chili on medium-low heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. If the chili starts to get too thick, add 1/2 cup of water to loosen.
Serve the chili hot and add your favorite toppings.
